[NEWS] Sean, Daesung, and Yoo In Na Join Forces to Open Children’s Hospital

YG Entertainment artists took time off of their busy schedules and stepped up to open a children’s rehabilitation hospital.

Sean, Big Bang‘s Daesung, and Yoo In Na joined forces for the ‘$10 Miracle‘ project, which is raising funds to build a children’s hospital, by donating a total of 30 million won (~27,800 USD) under the ‘YG WITH Campaign‘.

The campaign is led by none other than The Purme Foundation ambassador Sean, who’s asking participants to donate $10 daily for one year, a total of $3650 for children in need. Makeup brand Kiehl helped organize the charity event through the ‘Kiehl’s Mr. Bone Project‘. Over 1500 celebrities participated in the campaign throughout the years including YG Entertainment labelmates Psy, Big Bang, 2NE1, Se7en, Tablo, Gummy, Jinusean, and more.

[NEWS] Who Beat Psy’s “Gangnam Style” in Terms of YouTube Popularity?

Everyone knows Psy‘s huge success story with “Gangnam Style“.

The music video became the first video on YouTube to reach over 1 billion views, and that number is still growing. However, is he really the top Korean celebrity on YouTube? To answer the question, researchers from LG Economics Lab used a YouTube analyzer to find the top 15 videos that had the most views in early February.

Out of the 15 videos, there were 4 “Gangnam Style” related videos, 5 Big Bang music videos, and 3 Girls’ Generation music videos. Of course, out of all the videos, Psy’s video ranked #1 with the view count currently at over 1.3 billion. “Gee” came next with about 96,400,000 views, and “The Boys” ranked #3 with 67,270,000.

However, is the view count enough to determine how popular a video is? Probably not, since a promotional video needs a good response from its viewers to have the best effect. For this reason, the researchers decided to look at the number of ‘Likes‘ as well.

In terms of ‘Likes’, the best video was Big Bang’s “Monster“, which only ranked at #14 in terms of views. On the other hand, “The Boys” received 1.5 times more comments than the average K-pop related YouTube video, but only received 71% of the average ‘Likes’ ratio. As for “Gangnam Style”, the video got 1.04 times more comments than average, and 87% of the average ‘Like’ ratio.

YG Friends: A Look Back at 2012 with Big Bang

Hello, this is YG Online Friends^^
Though the time seemed to be slowly passing, a year has already gone by and it already seems like a promising 2013! I’m sure you can’t hide the anticipation of what kinds of songs and performances you’re waiting for in 2013. I know I’m excited for the Big Bang activities in 2013! 2012 was a year that we had time to organize many Big Bang activities! We couldn’t participate in every opportunity so we had to choose the ones that would leave the most memorable impression.

In order to see what kind of image Big Bang showed us in 2012, let’s take a look at the memories we had with Big Bang^^.

Healing Camp—-Aren’t they happy

February 20th: Healing Camp Episode airs! This was the first hint at Big Bang’s activities! In the midst of big and small matters, this was the first time that they were able to talk about them. After G-Dragon and Daesung’s talks, the rest of the Big Bang members gathered to share a meal and show their affection towards each other and left a lasting memory for fans. Perhaps that’s the purpose of the show.^^

5th mini album ALIVE release

February 29th: The long awaited 5th mini album ALIVE finally released. Each song had an all kill as soon as it hit the charts! A star featurette on the Naver music apps, early preview, Big Bang thoughts on their comeback as daily teasers to the comeback date are the happy memories from this~^^

2012 BIGBANG Concert BIG SHOW

March 2-4: 2012 Bigshow was the first Live performance of the songs from the 5th mini album! From those three days in Seoul the ALIVE TOUR was born and January 15- 27, the FINAL concerts will return us to Seoul again~^^

March 4, 11: A two-part episode of Running Man!
From the awesome arrival via helicopter to the end with “the strength of five rings joined we shall dominate space!’ cry. It was embarrassing but in order to give us laughter that now famous phrase was created on Running Man. :D
