Vote for your favorite Big Bang’s “Global Cover Event - Blue/Bad Boy”

YG Entertainment has been holding several cover contests lately, with two of those being Big Bang‘s‘Global Cover Event’ for ‘Fantastic Baby’ and ‘Blue/Bad Boy’. The events have received enthusiastic response from fans as 7,300 people from 61 countries have submitted their entries for their chance to win.
On April 3rd, YG Entertainment revealed the top 40 finalists for the ‘Global Cover Event – Blue/Bad Boy’ contest, and has opened up online voting to narrow down the top entries from the five categories: vocal, dance, band, instrumental play, and creative work.
Fans all over the world including those from the U.S., England, Brazil, Puerto Rico, and more, have flocked to submit their entries, surprising the staff members with the enthusiastic response.
One of the many entries is by ‘Birth of a Great Star 2′s Justin Kim, who had impressed with his melodic vocals and composition skills, but was unfortunately eliminated before the live broadcast. Justin Kim reinterpreted “Bad Boy” for the contest in his own way, showcasing his vocal talents and refreshing rap.
There are many others who stand out, including an individual who has dyed his hair blue and emulated G-dragon from the hairstyle down to the outfit, as well as an international fan who showcased perfect Korean pronunciation.
The voting will go on until April 10th, and the chosen winner will receive a ‘Seoul Travel Package’, which includes a tour of the YG Entertainment office, in addition to an opportunity to witness Big Bang’s performance.
Other finalists in each of the categories will receive a ‘Big Bang Alive Good Gift Box’ and a signed CD containing a personal message.

[NEWS] “The Great Boy Band Hair-Off, Final: Princeton vs. G-Dragon” on Popdust

Over the next week, we’re going to be squaring 32 of the all-time greatest boy band hair cuts—individual members of boy bands that is, with some groups having multiple eligible members (and one or two members having multiple eligible haircuts)—off against one another, with the goal of crowning the greatest boy band haircut of all time. From Davy Jones of The Monkees’ Proto-Bieber ‘do to Justin Timberlake’s stringy Ramen-noodle look from his ‘N Sync days to Harry Styles of One Direction’s soon-to-be-iconic swoop, haircuts from all eras of boy bands are in play.
Our first rounds saw a great number of lower-seeded upsets, launching today’s biggest stars over classic and cult coiffure role models alike—so much for our strange fascination with Chris Kirkpatrick’s skunk nest. A total of two number one seeds fell to the bracket game floor in the first round, just like the strands of their once-fabled hairstyles did many years ago, while One Direction’s Harry Styles prevailed over U.K. mate Nathan Sykes of The Wanted in round two, ending the ongoing debate over who is more awesome—for now. Most recently, K-pop fans and Disney lovers made their feelings known in the Final Four, while R&B fans were forced to show their true allegiances.
Next up: The final! Princeton of Mindless Behavior vs. G-Dragon of Big Bang. Examine the matchup below, and then vote in the poll underneath to decide who you want to win the Popdust Boy Band Hair-Off Crown. We promise it won’t mess up their ‘do.

[VOTE] MTVK Poll “The Best of Big Bang: Which Is Your Favorite Album Concept?”
It’s the summer of 2006, and a group of five rowdy teenagers arrives on the K-pop scene, backed by Korea’s biggest mainstream hip hop label. Sporting cornrows, fitted caps, and utterly-colorful urban wear, they call themselves Big Bang, the supposed “revolution of idol.”
Fast forward five crazy years.
Making their long-awaited comeback with their fifth mini album, it’s hard to believe that the five members of Big Bang are the same rebellious rookies VIPs fell in love with way back when. From the adorably badass days of “La La La” and “Good Bye Baby” to the musically innovative (and fashion-forward) days of “Haru Haru” and “Tonight,” Big Bang’s style as an idol group is pretty… diverse, to say the least.
Over the past five mini albums, three singles, and two full-length studio albums, which album concept from Big Bang’s Korean releases is your favorite? Do you miss their hip-hop-idolizing baggy jeans style when they were walking billboards for urban brands like 10Deep and Bape? How about more sophisticated look they had during “Last Farewell” promotions? Or were you blown away by their frozen, oxygen-mask-wearing (and totally misleading) teaser photos for Alive in the past few days?
Take a look at the evolution of Big Bang through the past five years, and vote for your favorite look at the bottom!
1. Bigbang / We Belong Together (Single) — “A Fool’s Only Tears” :: August 2006

2. Big Bang is V.I.P (Single) — “La La La,” “V.I.P” :: September 2006

3. B I G B A N G 0 3 (Single) — “Good Bye Baby,” “Forever with You” :: November 2006

4. Vol 1: Since 2007 (LP) — “Dirty Cash,” “Shake It” :: December 2006
